Monthly Practice -- January 2018

New month, new style and new process. Took a break from colourful visuals this month, so I went back to my comfort zone :) These pics were inspired by the short movie Zatoichi vs Predator or ZVP, Nioh, Darksouls 3 as well as Bloodborne. That in itself led me to revisit old Japanese animated movies of my younger days, such as The Dagger of Kamui and Ninja Scroll. Overall really cool inspiration. But the best source came from the lot of books, i got during my last trip to Japan. Books remain my number one source of references. But regardless of the refs or my original intentions, the drawings took over and went there own way, as it usually does with art ....and these are the results.
I am also posting two vids of my process for one of these drawings. Nothing fancy, just trying it out.
